Significance of Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi, the birthday of Lord Ganesha is celebrated every year during the Hindu month of Bhadrapada with much fervour and enthusiasm. The ten day long festival ends on Ananta Chaturdashi with the immersion of Ganesha idols. Slogans of Ganpatti Bappa Morya.

Much credit goes to revolutionary freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak for resuscitating interest in the festival. It was during 1893 when Tilak urged the masses to unite and come together to celebrate the festival. The main motive was to unite people and inculcate feelings of patriotism in them.

Lord Ganesha is considered to be the son of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati. He possesses the head of an elephant on which there’s a tiara. His four hands hold a symbolic object like the trishul or trident. Other symbolic objects carried by Lord Ganesha are a goad or ankush and a lotus. Lord Ganesha is known as the deity of wisdom and auspiciousness and he is said to have a great sense of humor as well.

The association between Lord Ganesha and the Chaturthi is due to the fact that he was born on the 4th day of fortnight of the Hindu lunar month of Magh. Hence, his birth anniversary celebration is known as Ganesh Chaturthi.

An interesting story behind Lord Ganesha’s birth is that his mother PARVARTI had once created a human figure and instilled life in it, thus asking it to guard the door while she had gone on a bath. During this time, Lord Shiva came to see his wife after a prolonged period and meditation at Mountain Kailash. When stopped by the human figure from entering the house, Lord Shiva was outraged and cut off the former’s head.

Very soon, Shiva came to know that the human figure was created by Parvati. So, he sent his attendants to look for the head of the first living object they could find. The attendants found an elephant and cut off its head to place on the human figure’s body so as to bring him back to life. This is why Lord Ganesha is seen to have an elephant head. He is known as Ganapati or Chief of Ganas or “Lord Shiva’s attendants”

Lord Ganesha is a symbol of auspiciousness, wealth, good luck and prosperity. His image is a composite of elephant and man with each part having its own significance. The elephant head represents great strength.

The human form is a symbol of wisdom and intelligence. Lord Ganesha’s mouse represents presence of mind. The four arms of Lord Ganesha depict the four directions are space. To all his devotees, Ganesha remains as the most important God; he is the universe.

The human body of Ganesha represents the “tvam” whereas his elephant head symblolizes the “tat”. Hence, the combination of these two (the body of Lord Ganesha) represents the highest reality of the Brahman.

Lord Ganesha’s ears resemble winnowing baskets. Just as one separates grain and dirt, one should also learn to distinguish the real (Brahman) from the unreal (maya) by listening to the scriptures from his Guru.

Lord Sri Ganesha 🙏

Lord Ganesha is the epitome of wisdom and auspiciousness. He is the Divine remover of the obstacles in our lives. “What this brings home is that it is wisdom and knowledge that removes obstacles. This means it is ignorance and lack of wisdom that turn situations into problems. On this auspicious day, let us not only pray to Lord Ganesha to remove all obstacles in our lives, but to grant us wisdom and knowledge to understand the miraculous power of our own thoughts to see obstacles as challenges and to overcome them with grace.

The primary icon of India`s knowledge based civilization is Sri Ganesha, who represents the power of knowledge on all levels.

India since the time of the Veda, which means knowledge, has always been a knowledge-oriented civilization. This Indic pursuit of knowledge has not been limited to the outer world but uniquely contains a full exploration of the inner world of consciousness.

The primary icon of India’s knowledge based civilization is Sri Ganesha, who represents the power of knowledge on all levels. Sri Ganesha is the lord of wisdom, speech, science, mathematics, philosophy and practical spirituality. He is invoked first before any sessions of knowledge, performance of rituals or yoga practices. Worshipping Ganesha means connecting to the great gurus and ultimately to the supreme guiding power of cosmic intelligence.

Why the head of an elephant, one might ask? Ganesha indicates superhuman intelligence, beyond the limitations of the human mind and brain. The elephant indicates vastness, steadiness and mystery. Only when we lose our heads, meaning silencing the mind, can we access the power of infinite space and discover the real meaning of our magical existence.

Sri Ganesha indicates the cosmic mind and its storehouse of wisdom, the Mahat Tattva of Samkhya philosophy. Yet, Ganesha ultimately brings the knowledge of the Self (Atma Vidya) that is the foundation of all forms of knowledge as well as the highest truth.

Ganesha, though arising through Parvati as Mother Nature, has a head given to him by Lord Shiva, meaning representing the transcendent truth beyond all name and form.

Ganesha is the cosmic guru who reveals our unity with the entire cosmos. If we don’t make a cosmic connection with Ganesha what we do will be merely human, limited by ignorance, desire and attachment to the material world.

Maharishi Ved vyas requested lord Ganesha to write the epic Mahabharat which will be dictated by him.
Ganpati being a playful God kept one condition that once he starts writing he wouldn’t stop.
Maharishi offered him a counter condition that before writing he should understand…

Each and every stanza written by him but soon Ganpati realized he had underestimated the sage.
So out of respect he broke his own tusk and started writing. They took 3 years to compile the epic.
Hence the name ‘Ekdant’ !!

Vedic knowledge teaches us to awaken the buddhi or higher intelligence at the summit of the mind, which is its ability to reflect the Self and universal awareness. To truly learn we must give up the arrogance that we already know. The highest knowledge is a form of unknowing or deconditioning of the mind. This is the Ganesha Vidya, the wisdom of Ganesha that teaches us the formless essence of all.

Ganesha integrates all the myriad levels of information, ideas and insights into a precise focus and unshakeable intent. The entire universe is a single person or Adi Purusha, of which everything manifest is but a particle, wave, expression or instrument. Ganesha is the lord of all mantras that are the key principles of cosmic intelligence and its vibratory energy. Such mantras are not mere words or sounds but the core creative forces that set everything in motion.

Ganesha is well known to provide the wisdom to overcome all the obstacles that assail us. Yet this does not mean ramming our way through our obstacles or forcefully pushing them aside. Sometimes, we need to go around our obstacles, which may be telling us that we are not on the correct path. The wisdom of Ganesha is very subtle and cannot reduced to any formula. He asks us to look deeply into the wisdom of life.

For thousands of years, Ganesh Chaturthi has lived on, and Ganapathi has become one of the most popular and most exported gods from India. He is very flexible. He takes on many forms and poses. He is also the god of learning. He was supposed to be a brilliant scholar. Ganapathi is always shown with a book and a pen, to show his scholarly capabilities. He had beyond normal human capabilities of scholarship and intellect.

So this is not just a day for eating. This is a day when you must multiply your brains, not your belly.

And he liked food. Usually, if someone has to look scholarly, he has to look skinny. But this is a nice, well-fed scholar. On this day, people generally believe that all you are supposed to do is eat well. People saw only the big belly, but missed the much bigger brain in the new head. That is the most important thing. His belly grew later. Maybe with such a big head, he did not feel like taking a walk! But the important thing is that his intelligence multiplied. So this is not just a day for eating. This is a day when you must multiply your brains, not your belly.

All the yogic practices in one way are about this, that your intelligence need not be stuck where it is. There are thousands of examples where people, starting simple spiritual practices, have multiplied their intelligence in many different ways. You will not grow a trunk, don’t worry, but you can strive for the multiplication of intelligence.

Humanity has always made the serious mistake of working towards producing good people. We do not need good people, we need sensible people. If you have sense, you will do the right thing. People do idiotic things only because they do not have sense.

Intelligence is not shrewdness. Intelligence is not about being clever. If you are truly intelligent, you would be 100% in tune with the existence because there is no other way to be intelligent. The sign of intelligence is that you are absolutely in tune with everything around you, you are going through life with the least amount of aberration within and outside of you.

Ganapati Atharvashirsam

Aum! Let us listen with our ears to that which is auspicious adorable one. Let us perceive with our eyes what is holy and auspicious. With strong, stable body and limbs, may we seek the divine grace and accept the noble order of all our life.

Ganesha, Salutations to you, you are actually A Brahma Tattvam. Only because you bless an action, it happens. Only you are the one who holds us from falling. Only you remove obstacle and ignorance. You are the Brahman, the ultimate divine power. You are the soul that is part of everything.

I surrender to you, Lord Ganesha. You are the speaker. You are the listener. You are the giver. You are the sustainer. I am your disciple. Protect me from the front and back. Protect me from the north and the south, from above and below. Protect me from all directions.

You are full of perfect knowledge of truth and awareness. You are full of bliss and pure consciousness. You are truth, consciousness and bliss. You are the absolute awareness. You are full of supreme wisdom and knowledge.

You are the earth, water, fire, air and the space. You are the root foundation of speech. You are beyond the three gunas: sattva, rajas, and r
tamas. You are beyond the physical, mental and causal bodies. You are beyond the three aspects of time: past, present, and future. You are eternally established in the muladhara chakra. You have three shaktis: action, knowledge and will.

Salutation to the Ganapati whose send mantra is Aum Gam. We know Ekadanta, the One-tusked God, the unique God. We meditate upon Vakratunda, the curved-trunk God. May that unique elephant God illuminate our consciousness and direct us along the right track.

One should meditate upon Lord Ganesha having one tusk and four arms; holding the noose and goad with two of them; with the other two indicating varada, the giving of boons and blessings, and abhaya mudra, the fear removing gesture; having a mouse as the emblem on his ensign; possessing a big; beautiful belly and large, lovely ears which look like winnowing baskets; having a red cloth and his whole body covered with red sandalwood paste. He should be worshipped with red flowers. He manifests himself as the universe and is beyond prakriti, matter, and Purusha, the manifest God. One who worships Ganesha in this way forever is the best of yogis.

Prostrations to Vratapati, the Lord of Plenty. Prostrations to Ganapati, the Lord of various groups of Gods. Prostrations to Pramathapati, the Lord of Shiva’s hosts. Prostrations to Lambodhara, the full-bellied God with a single tusk, destroyer of obstacles, the Son of Shiva, the Bestower of all Blessings.

With your infinite Mercy water in the river ceaselessly flows

With your boundless Mercy man abundantly incessantly grows

With your illimitable Mercy away misfortune in an instant flees

Fathomless mains of sorrows turn into nectar at Your graceful glance

74th Independence Day Mother India 🇮🇳

This is 74 years after Independence. This great civilization, which went through throes of various invasions and occupations, after much struggle and sacrifice, we attained our Independence 74 years ago. Many remarkable things have been done in these 74 years, but still, there are many things that we need to settle in our country. Well, our space research institutes have done phenomenal work; our business institutions have done wonderful things; our education systems have grown, infrastructure has grown, Indian people have gone all over the world and achieved many things and found success in various dimensions of life. But at the same time, some of the things that are really eating into the vitals of this nation are something that every citizen in this country should take interest in and sort them out in whichever way they can.

As India turns 74, what is the rising global power’s vision for the world?

India has the opportunity to put in place a new framework for its own security and growth, and that of developing countries around the world.

India, on the other hand has “emerged as a bridge between the many extremes of the world”, as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh once remarked. India’s plural and composite culture, he said, was “living proof of the possibility of a confluence of civilizations”. The global 2030 development agenda, for the most part, may as well be a story of India’s domestic economic transformation and of its defence of diversity and democracy.

For the first time since the end of the Second World War, a nation state that is wary of hegemonic tendencies and identifies itself with the equitable governance of the global commons is in a position to shape the international order. India is home to one-sixth of the global population and has sustained a unique democratic ethos and a foreign policy that is defined not only by national interest but also by solidarity with the developing world.

As a leading power, India must look beyond raw indexes of economic, political and military might, and craft a consensus that is consistent with its ancient and historic view of the world.

But on the other hand other side After you swim slowly, panting and sweating through a sea of humans, cattle, litter and blaring noise of honking rickshaws, trucks, buses and abysmal poverty, you reach where a quiet and a lonely Bharat Mata lives.
But what our politicians don’t see is the mass has not moved. The sea is still far far behind, still struggling to find its freedom from the chains of poverty, casteism, filth, sickness and ignorance. You want to see it, visit Varanasi, it’s ghats, streets, crossings and then go and find out where Bharat Mata lives. The one place she doesn’t live at, for sure, is among. the lynch mobs and rioters, over cows and religion.

We want Independence from hunger, from injustice, from thirst, from violence, from indignity, from ignorance, from rapes, gangrape, molestations, kidnappings, dowry, child sexual abuse, Hunan traffickings and all kind of crime against women. For every citizen in India. Each one of us are equal in the Declaration of Independence. Independence Day. A day to aspire to. Work hard towards.

Freedom is never free. Let us salute all those who fought for our freedom and to those who fight for us day and night at the borders to keep us safe. Let us not take their sacrifices for granted and always work towards a better India.

No nation is perfect, it needs to be made perfect. This Independence Day take a pledge to contribute towards the perfection of your country.

An ode to Mother India with this original Vande Mataram song on 73rd anniversary of Indian Independence. Let there be Justice,Liberty Equality and Fraternity.

I – Day is also an occasion to reaffirm commitment to work n strive for country’s betterment n for uplifting the people living in poverty or in disadvantageous conditions. Let us make an India of cheerful faces, who are all equal partners in progress.

Let’s celebrate the Idea of India, cherish her might & beauty, and take pride in her glorious 74 years of freedom.

Salutations to all freedom fighters who got us independence by sacrificing their own lives.. A special thanks to Bhagat Singh who was the first to demand “Puran Swarajya” & pranams to SubhasChandra Bose who got us the final Independence!

From the world’s oldest democracy to the world’s largest democracy: Happy Independence Day,

It’s a miracle and a great example to the world to have a thriving democracy that includes so many languages, faiths, and cultures, especially after centuries of colonial divide-and-rule. To non-democratic countries around the world: If #India can do it, what’s your excuse?

Nothing is more precious than independence and liberty.’
Let’s keep the independent spirit of our nation alive as we march into the 74th year as a free country.

Freedom is one of the most expensive commodities.
No amount of money will be enough to buy freedom.
It is the result of sacrifices and struggles of many brave.
Let us reverence them today and always by fighting and defending the welfare of this country.

Every Day, Every Hour, Every Minute, #FeelTheNation and be proud to be a part of a Country with thousands of different traditions.. Celebrating every Indian from all parts of India. Happy Independence Day.

India wasn’t born in 1947, it was unshackled from a colonial rule. Bharat is a civilizational nation, one of the oldest living civilization. Biggest task ahead is decolonization of minds. Happy Independence Day, India.

This Independence Day, may all Indians pledge to work towards freeing their minds from prejudice & liberating their hearts from hatred. We are a great country with a glorious tradition of diversity. Let’s work together to keep the spirit of our founding fathers alive. Jai Hind.

We have the potential, we have the intellect, we have the capability, and the world is looking up to us to show the way in many ways.

Independence from hunger, from injustice, from thirst, from violence, from indignity, from ignorance. For every citizen in India. Each one of us are equal in the Declaration of Independence. Independence Day. A day to aspire to. Work hard towards.

India and Indians breathe & enjoy our glorious cultural diversity. Many languages, many festivals, but a single celebration.Let India awake to the creation of a Shreshtha Bharat this Independence Day. The force of a strong, united India is Ek Bharat Sheaths Bharat.

India’s future is in the hands of this generation. Let’s strive to create a law-abiding Nation that values and respects all life in equal measure.

Wishing you all a very happy 74th Independence Day of India 🇮🇳

Bharat Mata ki Jay

Jay Hind.

Two simple alphabets, place them side by side however and they form a word powerful enough to turn a mass of people into a nation. DO. The last time we decided do or die, it changed the map of the world. Today we reached a stage where the eyes of the world are on us again. So what are we going to DO? How are we going to turn a land of philosophers into a nation of doers? Are we going to keep thinking about what we should be doing or do something about what we are thinking? Are we going to simply shrug our shoulders and play my infrastructure, our bureaucracy and a political system or are we going to roll up our sleeves. Get up and actually do something about it. The truth is this thinking can happen from an arm chair but doing must happen on your feet. Thinking may be great way of getting things started but Doing is the only way to get it Done. And let’s face it, you never really caught in a traffic, you are in the traffic jam. Today 74 years of Independence, more than half century and we still are happy been called 5th largest economy in the world, or 3rd largest army on this planet, an emerging economy, a Potential Super Nuclear Power or a Sleeping Tiger. This should be changed and it’s only possible if some of us, dare to be the CHANGE. So let’s stop basking in a glorious past or day dreaming about a great future. Let’s start by DOMINATING today and DOMINATION starts with DO.
