O dark-complexioned Krishna, O moon of Gokula, hearing from the devotees’ mouths that You are very merciful to the fallen and miserable, I joyfully take shelter of You. If You neglect me I have no place to go.

O Lord Hari, Lord Hari, when will I directly serve You as You enjoy blissful transcendental pastimes? When will that auspicious day be mine?

Oh my Lord Hari! Your lotus feet distribute the nectar of eternal devotional service to the surrender souls, and only by dint of the greatest good fortune can any soul drink such nectar.

O Krishna, Your charming and beautiful form bends in three places and the flute to Your lips. You are delighted to shoot (pebbles) with a sling-shot and You are very enthusiastic to play with a ball.

Beholder of the flute (Vamsi Dhari)! O Krishna Murari! Without You, all is misery, O remover of my distress! Please be merciful to me, O Lord, and protect my modesty. Kindly cause me to remember Your feet that bestow fearlessness, and allow me to chant Your holy name.

O Lord Krishna, accompanied by Lord Balarama and other cowherd boy friends, You delighted in performing various different pastimes in the gardens of Vrndavana. You are very fond of playing Your flute, upon which You produce an amazingly sweet sound.

Krishna who is the Deity of love, who is love personified, gazes at Her. Now all Her sufferings are ended. Respectfully He approaches. He embraces Radha. He holds Her to His chest. With unblinking eyes He gazes at Her for a long time. With His lotus hands He rubs His eyes.

His form was a dark monsoon cloud. His eyebrows were the archer Kamadeva’s two bows. From His lotus eyes Kamadeva fired his five arrows. The saintly gopis’ hearts were gravely wounded. Their lives are now in doubt.

In the morning, you awaken the world with Your sweet smile. Wherever the King of Vrndavana, Syama, walks, new flowers are awakening by each of His lotus feet. May I receive the dust of Syamasundara’s feet.

The sun of the holy name has appeared in the universe to destroy all forms of ignorance. Casting aside all worldly things, the saintly become devoted to Him alone. The sun of the holy name is the remover of the darkness of ignorance. O Harinam, who actually knows Your greatness?

Offer obeisances to Govinda, Who is the supreme bliss, Who is the eternal truth, Who is knowledge, Who is eternal, Who is beyond the skies, Who is the final limit, Who roams in the courtyard of cowshed in Vraja.

Worship the feet of Hari, O my mind,
Beautiful to look upon, soft and cool as a lotus,
Able to remove the three kinds of pain.
When Prahlad grasped those holy feet
He was elevated to the rank of Indra.
When Dhruv took refuge in them
He was transported to the motionless realm.
In the fair body of the holy Dwarf
They measured the universe.
Their touch saved the wife of Gautam.
They tamed the serpent Kaliya
When Krishna sported as a cowherd.
They supported the Govardhan Mountain
When Indra was put to shame.
Mira is the servant of Lal Giridhara,
The raft on which to cross the unnavigable Sea.

I bow to Bihari,
Master of the arts of love.
His crown is a peacock’s plume
And the tilak gleams upon his brow.
His golden ear-rings and raven locks
Are waving gracefully at his ears.
He is playing the flute
That rests at His adorable lips.
Experiencing deep joy Himself,
He is charming the hearts of the women of Braj,
On beholding this beautiful vision of Mohan Giridhara,
Mira swoons in ecstasy.

Lord Krishna and Karna

In Mahabharat, Karna asks Lord Krishna – “My mother left me the moment I was born. Is it my fault I was born an illegitimate child? I did not get the education from Dhronacharya because I was considered not a Kshatriya.

Lord Parshurama taught me but then gave me the curse to forget everything when he came to know I was Son of Kunthi belonging to a Kshatriya. A cow was accidentally hit by my arrow & its owner cursed me for no fault of mine. I was disgraced in Draupadi’s Swayamvar.

Even my mother Kunti finally told me the truth only to save her other sons. Whatever I received was through Duryodhana’s charity. So how am I wrong in taking his side.

Lord Krishna replies, “Karna, I was born in a jail. Death was waiting for me even before my birth. The night I was born I was separated from my birth parents. From childhood, you grew up hearing the noise of swords, chariots, horses, bow, and arrows.

I got only cow herd’s shed, dung, and multiple attempts on my life even before I could walk!No Army, No Education. I could hear people saying I am the reason for all their problems.

When all of you were being appreciated for your valour by your teachers, I had not even received any education. I joined Gurukula of Rishi Sandipani only at the age of 16.

I had to move my whole community from banks of Yamuna to far off sea shore to save them from Jarasandh. I was called a coward for running away. If Duryodhana wins the war you’ll get a lot of credit. What do I get if Dharmaraja wins the war? Only blame for war.

Remember one thing Karna. Everybody has challenges in life. LIFE IS NOT FAIR & EASY ON ANYBODY. But what is Right (Dharma) is known to your Mind (conscience).

No matter how much unfairness we got, how many times we were disgraced, how many times we fall, what is important is how you REACTED at that time.

Life’s unfairness does not give you license to walk the wrong path. Always remember, Life may be tough at few points, but DESTINY is not created by the SHOES we wear but by the STEPS we take…

Lord Krishna’s Story

A voice uttered, for all to hear,
An ominous message from sky,
O Kamsa! Count your days with fear!
A warning that you shall soon die!

Hearing what the voice had said,
Kamsa was trembling like a leaf,
His eyes, that never had known dread,
Were filled with doubt and disbelief.

The voice further boomed its decree,
As motionless the world remained,
The eighth child born to Devaki,
Will slay you, Kamsa, as is ordained!

The import of this message when,
It dawned upon the cruel king,
The only thought he’d there and then,
If Devaki were not living…

He turned around, and looked at her,
With murder in his fiery eyes,
He raised his sword to slay her there,
Devaki, stunned with silent cries!

Vasudev pleaded for her life,
What has Devaki done to thee?
I beg you, Kamsa, to spare my wife!
I beg you, just hear out my plea!

What children she and I beget,
I promise to give them to thee!
I beg you, O wise King, forget,
The thought of slaying Devaki!

Kamsa agreed to spare them awhile,
And locked them in a dungeon dark,
The walls heard the wails of a child,
And informed the evil monarch!

One, two, three, four, five, six, sadly;
The cruel king smashed them to death.
The two prisoners watched helplessly,
And prayed to God with silent breath.

Devaki, weary and distraught,
Looked up at Vasudev and sighed;
Will seventh also be a naught?
And fell asleep, still teary-eyed.

Lord Vishnu, sat with subtle smile,
And moved the wheels of decreed doom!
From Devaki, the seventh child,
He transferred to Rohini’s womb!

As Kamsa entered the dungeon red,
He was surprised to find no wail!
Stillborn, O King, Vasudev said.
The king just laughed and left the jail!

Vasudev, with some hope alive,
Comforted Devaki who wept,
The Lord himself may soon arrive,
He said, as Devaki just slept.

The eighth day of the waning phase,
In Shraavan month when clouds were high!
Past midnight, by Lord Vishnu’s grace,
The eighth was born, without a cry!

The chains that held them broke apart,
The doors of prison opened wide,
A thrill ran through Vasudev’s heart,
The eighth could yet be saved, he cried!

In a basket he placed the eighth,
And fled past the guards, sleeping sound,
Yamuna, alas, was in spate!
He stood there, looking all around!

On the banks, even as he stood,
The waters parted, a way was seen!
He hurried as fast as he could,
Reached Nanda’s house, his friend in need!

Yashoda, Nanda’s wife, had borne,
A girl on the same fateful night!
He exchanged her for one his own,
And returned ere the morning light!

Next day, Kamsa came in elated,
He laughed and thundered at the one,
Is this the one that was fated?
He bellowed as he thought he’d won!

As with others, he tried to slay!
The little one escaped and flew,
A divine voice was heard to say,
The eighth child lives, and will kill you!

Dhyana Shlokam for Narayaneeyam: 038:1-10

I offer my obeisance’s to Lord Kṛṣṇa, the beloved son of Vasudeva, who killed the great demons Kaṁsa and Cāṇūra, who is the source of great joy to Mother Devakī; and who is indeed a world teacher and spiritual master of the universe. (1)

Shlokam:02:When all the directions had been well cooled by rain waters, when the virtuous people were overwhelmed with the joy of the impending fulfillment of their desires,& the moon was rising at midnight, Thou the remover of all sorrows, appeared here on this earth,as Krishna.

Dasakam:038- Shlokam: 03: Thou shone in the birth chamber, though in the from of a child, with Thy body adorned with the divine majesties, shining crown, bracelets, shoulder ornaments, beautiful necklace, conch, discus, lotus, mace, beautiful as the hue of the rain bearing clouds.

Dasakam:038- Shlokam: 04: O Vaasudeva! Thou did shine in that prison house with the glorious Lakshmi Devi comfortably resting on Thy bosom. The side glances of varied graces, with shyful eyes, cast by her, dispersed away the inauspiciousness of the prison caused by the wicked Kansa.

Dasakam:038-Shlokam:05: Thy divine form which is unapproachable to the minds of many aspiring sages, when Vasudeva saw with his own eyes, he had goosebumps all over his body, his eyes were full of tears of joy & with a choked & melting voice he sang praised Thee

Shlokam: 06: Thou were praised with prayers for a long time by Vasudeva who was filled with joy, saying that ‘O Lord! cut down the creeper of all my sorrows with Thy sharp sword like playful eyes.O Supreme Being! Remove all my sufferings with Thy glances laden with compassion.

Shlokam: 07:Thy mother Devaki’s tears whose delicate creeper like body was covered &made wet ,Thy were praised by hymns.Thou, the abode of mercy, then explained to them, about their two previous births. Then at the request of Thy mother Devaki, Thou assumed the form of an infant.

Dasakam:038- Shlokam: 08: Then impelled by Thee, Vasudeva, got ready to exchange Thee with the daughter of Nanda. Thou, who art conceivable only in the minds of revered sages, and Thou, who art pleasing like the young swan seated in a lotus, were lifted by Vasudeva, in his hands.

038- Shlokam: 09: At that time, Thy Maya, Yoganidra, who had been born in the cowherd, Nanda’s house, put all the city dwellers to sleep, through her yogic powers, activated by Thee. But what is more amazing is that the firmly locked inanimate (prison) doors opened by themselves

038- Shlokam:10: Then the most blessed, Vasudeva, set out, with his path lighted by the shining crest jewels of the serpent Adi Sesha, who with his hoods held above Vasudeva’s head, shielded him from the rain.Oh Lord of such great deeds!May Thee destroy the severity of my ailments.
